In his retirement, Bob owned Eagle River Skidoo Sales & Service, drove school bus for Laidlaw in Eagle River, worked as a Security Officer for Purcell Security during the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989 and continued working for them on the North Slope. Bob’s life was all about God, Family, and Country. He was an active member of Anchorage First Church of the Nazarene; board member, Sunday school superintendent, greeter, and chaperoned many annual youth group hikes. Bob did everything for his family. From building their own home in the 1960s in Eagle River valley “from scratch,” to being heavily involved in the children’s activities. He coached their Little League team, but was most heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Pack Leader, Scoutmaster, and worked at the district level earning the Silver Beaver Award for his service. Bob suffered many serious health issues throughout his life, from kidney failure in 1968, multiple heart attacks since 1999, lung problems, and a stroke in 2017. God continually set Bob back on his feet and Bob continued to serve God and his family. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Clemens; son Franklin Clemens; son Michael and daughter-in-law Stephanie Clemens; daughter Sheila Clemens; grandchildren Ryan and Melody Clemens, Katelyn Clemens, Kyle Ohl, and Kassie and Matthew Elmore.
