Carl "Jack" Orr Obituary

Carl “Jack” Orr, 92, went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2021.  He was born October 4, 1928 in Paducah, Kentucky to the late Melvin and Beulah Orr and moved to Akron in 1943.  He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a Sergeant First Class –555th “Triple Nickel” Field Artillery Battalion. Jack retired from Goodyear Tire after 38 years of service and was a member of Coventry Lodge #83 for 65 years. He was a life-long member of the Akron Baptist Temple where he served as an usher and deacon.

Jack enjoyed treating his family to dinners out. As an avid golfer, he made a lot of good friends and enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his wife, Betty.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Stu Ferbrache; brother; sisters; and good friend, Bernie Wise.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty; children, Marilyn Ferbrache, Linda, Sharon (Dave) Baker, and Steve; grandchildren, Sarah (Tyler) Hershberger, Aaron Baker, Andy Baker, and Jeremy (Maggie) Baker; great-grandchildren, Eli and Colin Hershberger, Chloe Baker; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Bacher Moore Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., Akron, on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, in memory of Jack.
