Dorothy Stark Ficklin

Dorothy Stark Ficklin, 97, of Aberdeen MD, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Harford Memorial Hospital. She was born in Aberdeen, on April 4, 1918 to parents, Harold E. Stark and Anna (Vincent) Stark. She married Thomas Dorsey Ficklin III, in 1940, and raised two children, Thomas and Patricia. Throughout her life, Dorothy was a kind, generous lady and devoted mother. She was a secretary in her father's office as well as a home maker. In addition, she was a volunteer at Harford Memorial Hospital for 40 years and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was proud to be a life-long resident of Aberdeen, Maryland. She is survived by her son, Thomas D. Ficklin, IV of Aberdeen; daughter, Patricia Wedenko of Bel Air; sister, Mary Ellen Volkart of Aberdeen; grandchildren, Col. Thomas D. Ficklin, V, Dana Lanchak and Ashley Ficklin and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, brother, Elwood V. Stark, and her brother-in-law, Pershing Volkart. A viewing will be held at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, Wednesday, January 27, at 10 o'clock, and followed by a service at 11, and the burial at Bakers Cemetery. Pallbearers will include: Elwood Stark, Pete Stark, David Lanchak, Col. Thomas D. Ficklin, V, Ashley Ficklin, and Jared Lanchak. Pease send all contributions to Grace United Methodist Church.
