Randy Miller Greeley, Colorado Obituary

Randy Miller

Randy W. Miller (70), of Greeley, Colorado, died August 14, 2021 after a short illness. Randy was born September 28, 1950 in Sheridan, Wyoming, and was adopted as an infant by Dean M. Miller and Rachel (Waldsmith) Miller, his proud and loving parents. Randy was raised in Rawlins, Wyoming while his father, Dean, served as the Warden of the Wyoming State Penitentiary and his mother, Rachel, taught elementary school. Randy graduated from Rawlins High School in 1969, then went to California to attend Moorpark Jr. College for a time, returning to Laramie to attend The University of Wyoming in 1970. Randy’s father, Dean, had retired as Warden of the Wyoming State Penitentiary and purchased a title insurance company in Rawlins. Randy left UW and began his career as a title examiner working with his Dad. Randy was inducted as a Freemason in the Rawlins Lodge in 1979 and was a proud Mason the rest of his life. He was married for a short time to Doris. After their divorce, and after his parents passed away, Randy sold the title company and owned The Silver Spur and Sportsman’s Bar in Rawlins. The bar was very popular with the locals and the railroad workers who frequented Rawlins. In the early 80’s, Randy sold the bar and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to return to the title insurance business with Transnation Title Insurance Company. Randy moved to Greeley in 1986 to work for Security Title and served as a well-respected, knowledgeable title examiner until his retirement from Unified Title in 2019. Randy loved animals and had horses, dogs, and cats throughout his life. He was a voracious reader and had a wide knowledge of history and culture. He was meticulous in his work and strove for accuracy. Randy was music lover and thoroughly enjoyed live music and the local music scene in Greeley. Randy’s only remaining family was his large family of friends. He will be remembered as an intelligent, friendly, yet solitary, man and one who had an appreciation for the people around him. Please join Randy’s friends to honor him at a memorial gathering to be held Sunday, September 12 at 2pm at The Moxi Theater, 802 9th St. in downtown Greeley. If you are not vaccinated, please honor Randy in your own way at home.
