Lessie T. Smith, 78, died Mon. Nov. 5, 2012 in Norwood Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation in Plainfield. Born in Plainfield, she was a lifelong resident. Lessie was formerly employed with Samoset Laundry in Plainfield and C. R. Bard Co. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Plainfield over 50 years where she sang in the choir and was a member of the ladies auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Smith, two daughters Linda Smith and Kate Wyatt. Surviving are two sisters in law Rose Hagens and Bertha Johnson of Plainfield; a devoted friend Marie Hunter of Plainfield; two nieces Sonia Jones (Robert) and Annette Stepney (Sidney); three great nieces Sharonda Cober, Ameenah and Sameerah Jones, a great great niece Sa'Nyia Jones; three nephews Pastor Willie "Chubby" Smith, Michael "Mickey" Hagens and Nathaniel "Shorty" Stevens (Yvonne); a great nephew Rasoul Jones and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
