W. Darrell Sonderup

Sonderup, W. Darrell age 87 of Minnetonka, MN.  Born July 31, 1934 in Hutchinson, MN and passed away August 13, 2021.  Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Verna Sonderup and brother, Richard.  Survived by wife and best friend of 65 years, Mary; children, Mark Sonderup (Mary), Julie Kraines (Mike), David Sonderup, Dan Sonderup (Kelly) and Beth Beatty; grandchildren, Kate, Todd, Erin, Sam, Mathew, Briana and Alex; sister, Carol Sonderup as well as many loving relatives and friends. Darrell loved being with family and friends, fishing in MN and FL, playing 500 with various groups, camping and traveling.  He enjoyed trips to Sweden and Denmark, the countries of his grandparents.  Darrell was a bricklayer by trade and was proud of the buildings he helped build. He volunteered for the YMCA for 55 years, especially enjoying selling Christmas trees.  Anyone who needed help with anything could depend on his helping hand.  He loved his church of 50 years, Grace Lutheran of Deephaven where his memorial service will be held August 28, 2021 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at church.  It will be held in the fellowship hall due to church construction.  18360 Minnetonka Boulevard, Deephaven.  Memorials preferred to the Ridgedale YMCA, ATTN: Gilbert Campership fund or donor’s choice.  Many thanks to Methodist Hospital Comfort Care staff for their wonderful care of Darrell in his final days.  Masks Recommended.
