Judith Jane Mugford Obituary

Judith Jane Mugford (nee House) Corner Brook, NL It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Judith Jane Mugford (nee House) announce her peaceful passing on August 10, 2021 at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Long Term Care. She leaves to mourn her children: Susan Morgan (Barry), Sharon Walker (Curt), Stephen (Andrea), her treasured grandchildren: Shanna and Emma Mugford, Julie, Bria and Sarah Morgan, Mackenna and Seth Walker, her siblings: Doug (Donna), Christine Taverner (Stan), Geraldine Brown (Mick), Dave (Betty), Jean Staples (Bryan), Karen Mercer (Lloyd) and Don (Michelle); as well as large circle of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Judy was predeceased by her life partner Al Pilcz, her parents Hubert and Lillian House, her brother Jack and sister- in-law Cathy, her former husband Walter Mugford, and her parents-in-law Walter and Irene Mugford. Our mom had a strong work ethic and maintained an active lifestyle. She enjoyed her garden and being surrounded by flowers, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mom had unrelenting love for her family, as family was most important to her. We will miss our “matriarch” and how she made every celebration in our lives so very special, especially her annual House family turkey dinner on Christmas Day. Judy had a strong faith, and remained committed to her faith until the end. She believed there was “no point in worrying about things that you can not control”. She lived a life of love and gratitude. We would like to extend a special thank you for the amazing support, care and love given by Aunt Chris, Aunt Jean and Aunt Karen over the past few months. The continuous dedication, commitment and love that you gave to our mother throughout her illness will always fill our hearts. We would also like to thank Rev. Jocelyn Cook, not only her guidance in faith but her special friendship with Mom. We would like to thank Dr. Kim Gunson, the staff at the Cancer Clinic and Palliative Care Unit at Western Health for the compassionate care given to mom throughout this journey. While we will miss her immensely, she will be greatly remembered by all who knew her. The lessons of love, strength, courage and importance of family that we learned from our mother will guide us and bring us together at this difficult time. In keeping with moms wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday from the hours of 5:30 – 9:00 p.m., a maximum of 30 people in the building at one time. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. from Humber United Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Due to limited capacity at the church, funeral service will be by invitation only. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Humber United Church Memorial Fund or Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care Unit or Cancer Clinic.
