Rev. Dr. Herbert "Herb" Richardson Obituary

Rev. Dr. Herbert “Herb” Richardson passed away suddenly early Tuesday morning, August 3, 2021, at the age of 74.  Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday, August 8, 2021, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr.  The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 9, 2021, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home with Pastor Carlton Stimpson officiating.  Interment with Naval Honors will follow at 3:00 P.M. in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Dr. Richardson was born October 16, 1946, in McKeesport, PA, the son of the late George and Lois Irene (Dietz) Richardson.

Herb was a man of God constantly putting others ahead of himself.  His work with children, prison ministry and those in need was often unnoticed (which is how he liked it) but a relief to those he encountered. Herb graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a master’s degree in Radio/TV Production and Engineering. He served as a full-gospel inter-denominational minister and received a doctorate in divinity from WV Grant Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  He served as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era and was a member of the last Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) and held several positions from Maintenance Manager of 6 Flags Mall in Arlington to Master Control at KXXV ABC 25 in Waco, TX, but he was always working to help others.  He was an avid sports fan.  Particularly, NASCAR, baseball and football, especially his Pittsburgh Steelers and Dale Earnhardt along with any team where he could coach and impact young people, especially his son.  People in the area could always see Herb coming with his 6 foot five frame, Santa Claus beard, Pittsburgh Steelers jacket and Dale Earnhardt hat.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Victoria “Vicki”; a son, Rich Richardson and wife Mary; a sister, Pamela Jean Anderson and husband Artie; a brother, George Keith Richardson and wife Dorothy; four grandchildren, Lindsay Toups, USAF, Lauren Toups Kirby and husband Justin, Sarah Toups, Sydney Toups and a great grandson, Jackson Kirby.

For those desiring, the family has suggested Caritas of Waco Food Bank or Kenneth Copeland Ministries in Fort Worth for memorial contributions in his name.
