John Isaac Porter Obituary

John Isaac Porter was born on May 21, 1935, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He transitioned to eternity on August 3, 2021, in McKinney, Texas. 

Affectionately regarded as “Ikie”, John attended Stamford Connecticut Public Schools. He later enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country until he received an honorable discharge in 1956. John enjoyed a career as a self-employed machinist.

John enjoyed reading, watching sports, boxing, and playing baseball. He will be fondly remembered for his great listening skills and non-judgmental and funny nature. His quiet and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Nathaniel Porter, Sr. and Marie Goodley Porter; sisters, Frances Porter and Marie Porter Wilson; and brothers - Glen Porter, Charles Porter, Clemmon Porter, and Ernest Nathaniel Porter, Jr. Those left to cherish precious memories include his daughter, Karen Bob (Donald); mother of his daughter, Katherine Porter; grandchildren, Michael Jenkins and Kaitlyn Henry; great-granddaughter, Peyton Henry; siblings – Eugene Porter (Quentel), Mary Porter, Charleese Ramsey (Sam), and Katherine Washington; brother-in-law, Matt Wilson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
