Gertrude Vines Brooks, 99, of Marshallville, formerly of Baconton, died Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Hazel Colson Hospice in Perry, Ga. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with interment at Mt. Enon Cemetery. Rev. Ernie Rogers will officiate. Pallbearers will be Matthew Brooks, John Brooks, Ben Wisham and Brian Funderburke. Born, July 1, 1922 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Vines and Wessie Lee Jenkins Vines. Mrs. Brooks was a member of Baconton Methodist Church and worked as a postal clerk with the United States Postal Service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Brooks. Survivors include her daughter, Judith Tatman of Warner Robins; three sons, Walter Brooks (Glenda Johnson) of Baconton, Byron(Sybil) Brooks of Anderson, SC, Mark (Angie) Brooks of Americus; granddaughter, Beth (Ben) Wisham; grandsons, John Brooks and Matthew Brooks; granddaughters, Laura (Brian) Trent, Sarah (Brian) Funderburke, Leanne (Zach) Moore, Margaret (Cam) Arnold; great granddaughters, Tanya Trent and Emily Trent; great grandsons, Ethan Trent, Caleb Funderburke, Luke Funderburke and great granddaughter, Hannah Funderburke. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021, one hour prior to the service, at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Baconton Methodist Church, P.O. Box 115, Baconton, Ga. 31716.
