James Edward Arnold Obituary

On August 1, 2021 James Edward Arnold, 75, passed away peacefully at his home, with his family beside him. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption of Waco, Texas with Father Joseph Geleney, Jr. as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Westphalia, Texas. Rosary will begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, TX 76710. James was born on November 13, 1945 to Walter Leo Arnold and LouElla Theresa Bartek. He graduated from Temple High School in 1963. He then later joined the United States Navy. James was preceded by his parents; brother, Walter Arnold; sisters, Doris Febonio and Marjorie Gillette; and brother, Charles Arnold. James is survived by his brother, Ralph Arnold; his five children, Timothy Michael Arnold, Jeannine Renee Arnold, Christine Yvonne Warren, James Wesley Arnold, Lacey Lanell Newman; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous family members. James resided in Waco, Texas for 36 years, worked for the VA Hospital for 27 years, and retired in 2007. He was a longtime member and usher of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Waco, TX. His hobbies were fishing, fish fries, BBQs, dancing, and playing games with family and friends. Pallbearers will be James Wesley Arnold, Anthony B. Sanders, Jonathon R. Cooper, Jacob Arnold, Jonathan Newman, and Kevin Gillam. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky and Cleve Warren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, 1401 Washington Ave., Waco, TX 76701
