Stephen “Steve” F. Kampman, Jr., 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 following a hard fought battle against many illnesses. He was born in Portsmouth, VA to the late Stephen and Frances Kampman.

Steve proudly served in the Virginia National Guard from 1970-1993 as a Medical Specialist, E-6. He loved his country and all that it stands for. He retired in 2005 from the Department of the Navy as a Contracting Officer for the Carrier Planning Activity. He loved all sports and had a talent for coaching baseball with many youth organizations. His love of trains carried over to his adult life and he became a passionate model railroader. He loved fishing, golf, painting pictures, building Legos, and riding his Harley. His greatest accomplishment and love were his family. In his eyes, no one could hold a candle to his three sons and wife.

In addition to his wife, Dee of Murrells Inlet, he is survived by his three sons, Nathan Kampman of Portsmouth, VA, Matthew Kampman of Suffolk, VA and Patrick Kampman and his wife, Jenny of Portsmouth, VA; a brother, David Kampman and his wife Marsha of Chesapeake, VA; sister, Ruanne Wolfinger of Ft. Myers, FL; along with in-laws, cousins, and many friends who played such an important role in his life.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 2:00-4:00pm, with a celebration of life memorial service following at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
