Edison Powers (Lansing)

Mr. Edison Powers left this life on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan at the tender age of 66. He was born December 16, 1954, to Curtis Powers, Sr. and Olevia Beatrice Brownlee-Powers, in Hernando, Mississippi. He was the 2nd and last child born to this union. Edison graduated from Lansing Sexton High School, upon graduating from high school he enlisted in the Army and was also a firefighter. Edison also had a passion for singing and cooking. At any given time, you could find him enjoying his family, cooking, and lending a helping hand in the community. He always gave much of himself and was always by his mother’s side. Edison gave his life to the Lord at an early age and grew up as a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, Lansing, Michigan under the leadership of Reverend Charles Patterson where he served in the Men’s Choir, Greeter and Cook in the kitchen. Edison rededicated his life to the Lord and strived towards a more excellent walk with Him until his death. He leaves to celebrate his transition Home his loving mother, Olevia Powers of Lansing, Michigan; brother, Curtis Powers Jr. of Lansing, Michigan; sister, Malva Henderson of Atlanta, Georgia; 2 daughters, TeKosha Perkins and Tamela Berry, both of Lansing, Michigan; 2 sons, Marlon (Niki) Mitchell Sr. of Tacoma, Washington and Roshawn Carroll of Lansing, Michigan; son-in-law, Edwin Johnson Sr., of Lansing, Michigan; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Melva Powers; father, Curtis Powers, Sr.; daughter Nicole Johnson and granddaughter, Tre’Sea Berry.
