Margaret M. Holcombe Obituary

Mrs. Margaret M. (Reese) Holcombe, 93, a resident of The Leland of Laurel Run, Waynesboro, PA and formerly of Edenton Retirement Community, Frederick, MD and also Washington, D.C., passed away Sunday morning, July 25, 2021 at The Leland. Born August 15, 1927 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Ann T. (Conners) Reese. Mrs. Holcombe graduated from St. Patrick’s Academy, Washington, D.C., with the Class of 1945. She later received her Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Science from Columbus University in 1949. She and her husband, the late William Lee Holcombe, were married on October 14, 1950. Mr. Holcombe died on September 18, 1975. In her early life, Mrs. Holcombe was a secretary at Catholic University and later as an accountant and supervisor of the payroll department at the university. She later worked as an accountant at Suburban Trust which later became part of Bank of America. She retired in 1991. She was a member of St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor, Frederick, MD and enjoyed traveling with her friends, working on puzzles, crossword puzzles, and reading the Washington Post. She is survived by one daughter, Lee H. Shum of Point of Rocks, MD and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John W. Reese, Jr. and Thomas L. Reese. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 30, 2021 in St. Joseph-on-Carrollton Manor Catholic Church, 5843 Manor Woods Road, Frederick, MD. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 31, 2021.
