William Francis Meehan, Jr. Obituary

On Saturday July 17th, William Francis Meehan Jr., loving husband and father of four, passed away at Virginia Hospital Center. He was born on August 4th,1942, Bronx, New York, and was the first of three boys to William Sr. and Eunice (Fuge) Meehan. After graduating Regis High School (NY), he went into the Merchant Marines, and then earned his BS in Mathematics from the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP). While working at IBM he met his wife, Carol Jeanne Dyer. They were married in El Paso, TX on March 28, 1970, and lived in various places throughout the US, before settling in Woodbridge, VA in 1982, to raise their four children. He was an honest man who always treated people with kindness and respect. He was an individual that had a passion for life, drive to overcome obstacles, determination to not lose focus, and a strong faith that carried him through life’s ups and downs. He was very well read/educated but humble and approachable. He enjoyed a good conversation and would ensure you knew where he stood. He was a crusader that tried to right the world’s wrongs but never forgot the human aspect of all challenges. As an FBI agent, a prosecutor once approached him and asked, “Why don’t the people you investigate ever have anything bad to say about you? They complain about everyone else, but they praise you.” He took pride in his family and did everything possible to ensure they were successful and taken care of. William would want all to remember that our time here on Earth is short and the true goal is to join God in Heaven. He would demand that you give it "your all" with whatever gifts God has given you. He truly was an Irish Catholic from New York guided by his faith, a true witness to living God’s Word. May he Rest in Peace with God in Heaven. Best stated by Saint Thomas More, “I die the king’s faithful servant, but God’s first.” He is preceded by his wife Carol, brother Pete (Dolores) Meehan and survived by his four children, Chris (Eunice) Meehan, Katie (Stephen) Moody, Steven (Amanda) Meehan, and Jeanne (Joe) Wysocki; his fourteen grandchildren, John Meehan, Nicolas Meehan, Chris Meehan, Charles Meehan, Jocelyn Moody, Sawyer-Grey Moody, Fiona Meehan, Addie Keller, Joe Wysocki, Frank Wysocki, Molly Wysocki, Carolyn Rose Wysocki, Benedict Wysocki, Michael Wysocki; his brother Lou (Kathy) Meehan; his brother-in-law Charles (Daphne) Dyer Jr., cousin Peggy (David) Hess, his nephews Brian Meehan, Timothy Meehan, Charles Meehan, Charles Dyer III, his nieces Jennifer Meehan and Casey Oliver. There will be a viewing for William Meehan Jr. on Thursday, July 22, from 6 P.M.- 8 P.M. at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory (Woodbridge, VA).
