Obituary

Rose Gangemi Edwards passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Howard County General

Hospital in Columbia, MD.

She was the daughter of Nicholas Salvatore Gangemi and Concetta Cichello of Syracuse, NY, both

deceased. Rose Edwards was predeceased by her husband, Marshall Neal Edwards. She is survived by

three children, Mark G. Edwards, Roxanne L. Edwards, and Jocelind M. Julien (Christopher Julien). She is

also survived by two grandchildren, Christopher Julien II and Megan Julien, and a host of loving family

and friends.

As a teen, Rose volunteered at a local orphanage in Syracuse, NY. After completing high school in three

years, 16-year-old Rose attended Oswego State Teachers’ College in New York. Afterwards, she trained

as a ballerina in New York City. She left New York to take a job at the Pentagon in Virginia. She then

became a teacher’s aide in the Washington, D.C. public school system. Rose left teaching to marry and

start a family.

Rose was employed at Patuxent Publishing Company as a classified ad taker and later as a top-selling

encouraging her son’s love of history and taking great pride in his appearance in and serving as a

historical advisor for the motion picture, Glory; taking her first daughter to horse riding lessons and

horse shows; and taking her second daughter to modern dance lessons and performances.

Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, baking, and watching her twin grandchildren grow into young

adults whom she adored completely.
