Minnie Brown Conway, South Carolina Obituary

Minnie Brown

Minnie Bell Brown was called from her earthly garden to her eternal home on July 22, 2021 at Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, Georgia. She was born January 13, 1936 in Little River, SC. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Stanley, Sr. and the late Emma Rose Bellamy Stanley of Little River, SC. She was the youngest of seven siblings. Minnie Bell was preceded in death by her husband, Leon A. Brown; two brothers, Lesonly Stanley, Sr. and Lonnie Stanley, Jr.; three sisters, Haley Francis Stanley, Ora Mae Stevenson, and Aree Bellamy. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul AME Church, where she was a faithful member until her illness. She loved to sing and was a member of the Senior Choir, and she was also a Stewardess. Minnie attended Horry County Public Schools and graduated from Poplar Training School. She also attended Horry Georgetown Technical College for Nurse’s Aide. She married the love of her life in 1955 and to this union 4 children were born: Al and Aaron Brown, Elizabeth Brown Gilead, and Audrey (Larry) Eaddy. Minnie was an avid sports fan and loved watching every kind of sports you could think of: basketball, football, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis-you name it! And don’t forget about her puzzles... she loved putting them together! The most we have ever known her to put together is 1500 pieces and she would have them displayed on her wall as pictures. Her other hobbies included fishing, painting and putting up wall paper. One of Minnie’s most favorite pastimes was playing board games with her friend, Blanche Ellen Bellamy. The fun and games did not end when she became ill because Blanche Ellen would go to her home in Little River and even to Timonsville when she moved away with her daughter. Throughout her illness, she kept herself busy. She began painting pictures and they were very detailed, and she also did word puzzles. Minnie would read her Bible every night at midnight. She leaves to cherish her memories: her 4 children, 8 grands, 1 preceded her in death, Marcus Gilead, 15 great-grands, 2 great-great grands, one sister, Elma L Ellison, 2 aunts, Victoria Grissett and Lucille Batts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, 2 special friends, Blanche Ellen Bellamy and Helen Christine Willia The Viewing will be held Wed.
