Anna G. Sommers Obituary

"For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Phil 1:21 "That I may know Him..." Phil. 3:10 Anna G. Sommers, our precious and dearly loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully left this world to be with the One whom she adored and was waiting and longing for. On July 21, 2021, at 4:00 in the morning, JESUS came to take His Beloved home to be forever with Himself. She has left a huge empty place in her home, and while our hearts are grieving we rejoice to know that she is experiencing fulness of joy in the presence of Jesus and being reunited with her dear loved ones who have gone on before. She was born in Hartville, Ohio, and around the age of 20, gave her heart and life completely to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and was baptized. Her earnest desire was that only He would be glorified in her life. At age 29, God led her to Elson J. Sommers, and they lived together joyfully for 51 years. Her life was fulfilled in being a wife, mother, homemaker, Grandma, and reaching out to others. She was a member of the Zion Conservative Mennonite church and for many years supported her husband faithfully in his calling as Deacon. Mom's love for Jesus and others, her singing, and selfless sacrifical life will never be forgotten. Her many fervent prayers have blessed us through the years. Her journey to "know HIM", took her through valleys of sorrow and suffering but the sweetness that came out of her life because of JESUS has inspired and blessed all who came in contact with her. From her heart she would repeat, “God is Good - always”. We long for the day when we will once again be reunited. She is survived by daughter Naomi (Reuben) Hostetler of Coshocton, daughter-in-law Dorothy (Jonathan deceased), of Sugarcreek, Conrad (Jennifer) of Dover, and James (Mary Ann) of Palm Bay, FL, 15 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren, two sisters -Verna of Hartville and Betty (Junior deceased) of Harrisonburg, Virginia. She was preceeded in death by her parents Mose and Lydia Gingerich, brothers Jonas, Noah, Elmer, John and Mose, a sister Elizabeth, a son Jonathan, grandson Dallas, great-grandsons Joel Andrew I, Victor, Elijah, and great-granddaughter Hosanna. Calling hours are on Saturday, July 24, from 1-4 and 6-8 pm at the Messiah Fellowship Church, 5237, S.R. 557. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 25, at 2:30 pm, also at Messiah Fellowship, followed by the Burial at the Zion Conservative Mennonite Church Cemetery in Benton Ohio. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of HIs saints." Ps. 116:15 Miller Funeral Care – Walnut Creek, OH 330-893-2273.
