Louie G. Ortiz Louie G. Ortiz, of New Lenox and formerly of Joliet, passed away peacefully at the age of 93, on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. Louie was born in Toledo, OH, on September 27, 1927, the son of the late John and Isabel (nee Gutierrez) Ortiz. Louie grew up in Decatur, IN. He retired in 1991 from E J & E Railroad after 25years of dedicated service as a Foreman. In his free time, Louie enjoyed listening to Mexican music, dancing with his wife, and watching “WWE SmackDown!” wrestling on Monday nights. He was well known for the peppers he grew and canned to share. He also volunteered for over ten years at the Joliet Spanish Center and the Will Grundy Medical Clinic. Louie loved his wife, Theresa, more than anything. He will leave a void in the hearts of all who loved him. Louie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Theresa (nee Orasco) Ortiz; his children, Frank Ortiz, Daniel Ortiz, Ron Ortiz, Richard Ortiz, and Linda Parent; and his stepchildren, Linda (Ned) Morrell, Christine Rodriguez, Theresa Rodriguez, Cyndy (Bruce) McRaven, Ronald Rodriguez, David (Laurie) Rodriguez, Rey (Evon) Rodriguez, Diana (Gregg) Dobczyk, and Ana (Scott) Lockwood. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins He is preceded by his parents; and his siblings, Floyd Ortiz, Maria Ortiz Ayala Robledo, Antonia Jaurequi, Mercedes Villagomez, Arabella Arriaga, and Candelaria Ortiz. A special thank you to his personal caregivers, Christina Ortiz, and his nieces, Alicejean Escamilla, Rosemary Villagomez, Shirley Laguna, Isabelle Lehrman, Hilda Laura Escamilla, and his stepdaughter and dear friend, Diana Dobczyk, all whom took such loving care of Louie. Funeral Services for Louie G. Ortiz will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. from Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, to St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1301 Sterling Ave., Joliet, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
