Frances May (Wagner) Wheeler, 91, widow of Forrest Eugene Wheeler of 1478 Laurel Hill Road, Verona passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at her residence. Mrs. Wheeler was born in Augusta County, Virginia on May 20, 1930, a daughter of the late James E. Wagner and Elizabeth Marguerite (Benson) Strickler. Frances was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Staunton and she retired from GENESCO where she was employed as a seamstress. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and canning. In addition to her parents and husband. Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by a grandson, Dennis E. Wheeler, Jr.; a brother, Junior Wagner; and two sisters, Dorothy Southerland and Stella Swisher. Surviving are two sons, Dennis E. Wheeler, Sr. of Swoope and Donald W. Wheeler and his wife Rhonda of Verona; a daughter, Tammie Wells and her husband Matt of Churchville; six grandchildren, Amy Wheeler, Michael Wheeler, Brian Mayberry, Tara Hopkinson, Lynzie St. Clair, and Emily Hawkins; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021 in the Augusta Memorial Park by Reverend Rhonda Wheeler. Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
