Obituary

Joseph Hintz, 65, of Norwalk, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.  Joe was married to his high school sweetheart, Elaine (Nelson).  They would have been celebrating 45 years of marriage together this October.

Joe considered that one of his biggest accomplishments in life was being a father to 4 daughters and eventually 4 sons, Kim and Jason Dills, Angela and Troy Solze, Melissa and John Merner and Cassy and Ben Vollmar.  Joe was the proud “Papa” to 15 grandchildren, with a 16th due to arrive in December (Amanda, Kaya, Ryan, Carley, Jacqueline, Caylee, Jaylee, Emery, Oliver, Bailey, Weston, Brayson, Laney, Gabriel, and Quin).  At family gatherings Joe could often be found with tearful eyes and a full heart as he sat and observed his family.  Aside from his family, the most important thing in Joe’s life was his relationship with God.  He loved to serve and share his faith with others in hopes of winning others for the Lord.

Joe was born and raised in Norwalk and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1974.  He served in the Ohio National Guard and was a business owner for over 25 years during which all of his daughters had the privilege of working with him.  He then went on to be a Huron County Commissioner in which he was serving his third term.

He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren and his siblings, Sue (Roland) Loolen, Bonnie (Gordon) Hahn, Irven, Gary and Peggy Hintz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irven and Helen Hintz and his brother, Ron Hintz.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held the following day, Saturday, July 24, 2021, at The Chapel, Norwalk, 156 S. Norwalk Rd., beginning at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation to be held beforehand from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Pastors Joe Binkley and Mike O’Bryant will be presiding over the funeral service.  Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk.  Memorial contributions if desired may be made to Abigail Pregnancy Services, 3900 Laylin Rd., Norwalk, OH 44857 or The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251.  Memories may be expressed online by visiting www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com
