Fern Mae Triestram went to be with our Lord on July 22, 2021. She was reunited with the love of her life, Larry Triestram, who passed June 16, 2014, and her son, Bary Triestram, who passed July 31, 2015. She is also predeceased by many other family members on the other side. After their marriage, Fern and Larry adopted Holly and Bary, one year apart from Detroit Baptist Children’s Home. Bary and I won the lottery with them as our parents. Fern was in the Air Force and worked at the Pentagon. She later went to U of M and was a registered nurse. She was also very creative; she sewed, painted, crocheted, knitted, baked, did every crossword she could find, and she was a fabulous cook. She had a wicked sense of humor and was very silly at times. Fern really enjoyed making other people smile, and helping others was extremely important to her. Her grandchildren were the sparkle in her eyes and she loved them tremendously. Both Fern and Larry were people who felt strongly about honesty, integrity, and doing what is right “…even if you are standing alone.” The other words the lived by were “Family takes care of family” an important phrase with the Triestrams. They believed and taught that you should leave every place you go better than you found it and they raised their children with a strong sense of taking care of the environment. Fern and Larry planted trees, put up countless blue bird houses, rewarded the neighborhood kids financially with games of “who could fill up the garbage bags with the most trash from the roadsides,” and they loved the outdoors. Fern and Larry were also very generous with their time and money. There were many stories after their passing about them quietly paying for college, camps, rent, cars, roofs, etc., for others that no one was told about. Fern lived at home with her daughter and son in law for the last year and her routines, silliness, and love with be greatly missed. Surviving are siblings Fred Harrington, Harley Harrington, Jean Eichenhofer, Martha Moore, Don Triestram, and Judy Triestram. Many nieces and nephews (special nieces Dawn Eichenhofer, and Laraine McCormick), and daughter Holly Triestram, son in law Robert Dorner, grandchildren Shaliah and Robbie Dorner. I LOVE YOU MORE!
