Carol Heideman Kitchener, Ontario Obituary

Carol Heideman

Carol passed away peacefully, at Lisaard House, on Thursday, July 22 at the age of 85. Predeceased by her husband, Larry Heideman, she will be greatly missed by her children, Leslie (Leigh), Brenda (Brent) and David (Brenda) her grandchildren Sarah, Kristin (Matt), Josh (Laura), Zac, Joel and Ryan, as well as her great-grandchildren Adalind and Everly. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy, and in-laws Gail, Joan, Dave and Ron as <http://ron.as/> well as many nieces and nephews. Carol was born on January 29, 1936 to Pearl and Howard Smith. She was the baby of the family and enjoyed her youth with her 3 sisters, Dorothy, Betty and Marion. Carol loved all games, especially curling, horseshoes and shuffleboard. She was an avid card player and crib was her game of choice, though she was always up for any kind of game. She competed in "The Worlds" for horseshoes and numerous shuffleboard tournaments and leagues. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #412. She loved spending her summers at the family cottage on Belwood Lake and hosting the annual corn roast. Carol's family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, July 25 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Those wishing to attend Carol's visitation are asked to RSVP by visiting the funeral home website or by telephone. A graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery on Monday at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation - Cancer Center or Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the family. A special thank you to Dr. Stevens and the staff at the Cancer Center as well as the nurses and staff at Lisaard House for their wonderful care of Carol.
