The family of Grant Lewis “Lew” Lambert announces his peaceful passing at the Patriot Manor on July 21, 2021, at the age of 92. Lew, born on April 15, 1929 to Berton G. and Sadie M. Lambert, grew up in Hollsopple on the same piece of land where he later raised his own family. Lew was a 1947 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. On January 27, 1951, Lew married the love of his life, Patricia A. Wehner, “Pal,” as he used to call her. Lew was drafted into the Army shortly after, where he served nearly three years, mostly active duty in the Korean War, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant.  Together, Lew and his Pal proudly raised four daughters: Lou Ann Hemminger (Allen), Jacqueline M. Knapp (fiancé Douglas Johns), Kay L. Kauffman (Donald), and Patricia J. Miller (Harold "Bill" Jr.). Lew was preceded in death, by wife, parents, sisters Elizabeth Shaffer, Goldie Nichols, and Minnie Hoffman, brother Richard, and granddaughter Kayla Kauffman. Lew is survived by daughters and eleven grandchildren who knew him as “Pap”: Robert Ketner (fiancée Shelly George), Lisa Schmerer (Doug), Keli Neary (Kevin), Ashlee Knapp, Karlina Kauffman (David Richards), Cody Miller, Melanie Kauffman, Coltin Miller (Emma), Natalie Kauffman, Casadie Miller, and Caven Miller; three step grandchildren:  Lisa Freeman, Scott Hemminger (Nikki), and Heather Hemminger, four great-grandchildren: Stephen Ketner (Heather), Brittany Ketner, Rhiannon Neary, and Bridget Neary; and, great-great grandson, Bently Ketner.  After serving in the Army, Lew worked in a coal mine and for a construction company before beginning his nearly 20-year career as a Control Room Operator at the Air Reduction Plant (AIRCO) in Johnstown. In retirement, Lew worked for Lavely Signs, building and installing many well-known signs around town, including the marquee at Conemaugh Township High School.  Lew’s hands built and worked on many homes of friends and family. Lew was also an avid hunter and fisherman, loving deer hunting the most. Visitation will be Monday, July 26, 2:00-4:00pm & 6:00-8:00pm at the George E. Mason Funeral Home, Inc. Davidsville.
