<p>Jean Marlena Dietrich Megenity, 87, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on July 21, 2021 with her daughter by her side.&nbsp;</p> <p>A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN.&nbsp;</p> <p>Jean was born on February 8, 1934 in Newton Falls, OH, to the late Morand and Agnes Dietrich.&nbsp; She graduated from the University of Kentucky as a Physician&rsquo;s Assistant and then received her Surgical Assistant Degree from Yale University in New Haven, CT.&nbsp; She dedicated her skills to various hospitals in the Upstate New York area, Florida and Kentuckiana.&nbsp; She was a voracious world traveler traveling to countries in Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, South America, Mexico and Central America.&nbsp; Jean enjoyed fine cuisine and wines and practicing several sports including, snow skiing, water skiing, tennis, scuba diving, running and most importantly, golf. &nbsp;Jean had a passion for taking care of animals, all while caring for them at home, fostering, adopting and volunteering for local shelters.</p> <p>Jean never met a stranger and always reached out to people in need.&nbsp; She was a great mother, sister, grandma and friend.&nbsp;</p> <p>She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Megenity; grandchildren, Grace Megenity and Rowan Megenity; and several loving friends.</p> <p>She was preceded in death by her parents, Morand and Agnes Dietrich; son, Darren Patrick Megenity; sister, Catherine Siebold Johnson; and her beloved dog, Molly.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the <a href="https://thearrowfund.org/">Arrow Fund</a>, 1000-1100 Envoy Circle, Louisville, KY 40299, or the <a href="https://www.jeffersonvilleanimalshelter.com/">J.B.
