In Memory of Peter E. Toscani Peter E. Toscani of Bristol, CT entered into his eternal rest with the Lord on Sunday, July 18th 2021, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 62. While he was taken far too soon, he lived life with unbridled enthusiasm and provided all those around him with limitless generosity. Everyone who knew him whether relative, friend or regular customer, experienced Peter’s unforgettable humor, passion and loyal support. Peter was born in Astoria Queens on March 16, 1959. He attended Saddlebrook, NJ public Schools and graduated from Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, NJ in 1977. He graduated from St. John’s University, College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1982. He was a licensed pharmacist in CT, NY, NJ, PA and FL. Peter practiced pharmacy for 37 years at CVS in Southington, CT and retired as Supervising Pharmacist in 2018. Peter received the CVS Paragon award, the highest professional achievement given to a pharmacist from each region. Peter was also known as “Santa Claus” every year in December at the pharmacy bringing cheer and smiles to his patients and their families. Peter was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Peter was a licensed charter boat captain and a merchant marine officer and managed a charter boat business called Pharmacy on the Fly Charters, LLC in Westbrook, CT. He was presented with many awards for his fly-tying expertise and his work has been published in outdoor sports magazines and books. Peter also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his and his family’s log home and country property in Northeast, PA. Another interest of Peter’s was re-storing antique cars and trucks. Along with his friend, Chris Taussi, Peter restored a 1979 F-250 pick up truck which won numerous awards from many local CT car and truck shows. Peter was a member of the Southington Sportsman’s Club, Bristol Fish and Game and the Knights of Columbus. He was loved by everyone he came in contact with. Peter enjoyed spending time with his brother, Michael, sister-in-law Lauren, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends. Peter served as godfather for Nicholas Clemente, Nicholas Stripp, and Melissa Taussi. A devout Catholic and life-long Yankees fan, Peter also delighted in taking annual trips and sending post cards from the Florida Keys and professional society meetings throughout the country. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Dorothy Toscani. He was also pre-deceased by his grandmother, Antoinette Simonelli and his great grandmother Maria Simonelli, his uncles Peter Morrell, Alfred Clemente and Gino Toscani and his aunt Lillian Clemente. A memorial service will be held at the Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, Hamilton, NJ on Friday, July 30, from 5-8 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 31 at 10:00 am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 54 E. Prospect St., Hopewell, NJ. Along with his brother Michael, Peter shared a profound respect for the power of education. That belief and deep commitment led to the establishment of the Alexander and Dorothy Toscani Endowed Scholarship Fund at Thomas Edison State University in 2007. The Fund is being renamed to The Toscani Family Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund at TESU to honor Alexander, Dorothy, and Peter.
