Cynthia Lee Gilmore Mooty Obituary

Mrs. Cynthia Lee Gilmore Mooty, age 73, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in Alexandria at Marigold Place. Memorial Services for Mrs. Mooty will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home. The Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Mrs. Mooty was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a very talented and accomplished musician. Mrs. Cynthia played the flute, piano, pipe organ, accordion, piccolo, as well as a singer. She used to play music with the Cenla Symphonic Band and orchestras in New York. Mrs. Mooty was strong willed and outspoken but you never had to question her love. She will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Mooty; parents, Stanley and Elizabeth Gilmore; brother, Larry Gilmore; sister, Susan Vasquez; and adopted parents, Claire and Ted Woods. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Nancy Mitchell (Kevin) of Colfax, Norman Mooty (Nikki Burton) of Ball; and Tonya Taylor (Jason) of Pollock; brother, Stanley Gilmore, Jr. (Linda) of Maryland; Heather McElwain (Daniel), Dustin Mitchell (Sophie Basher), Alyssa Mooty, Logan Mooty, Nathaniel Taylor, Ainsley Taylor, and Braydon Taylor; and a host of extended family and friends.
