Alfred Anderson Stagg known as Andy died peacefully Sunday, July 18th, 2021 at his home in
Auburn, Washington. Although he struggled for years with health issues he had the most positive
outlook on life anyone could have ever had.
Andy was born on May 23rd, 1951 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, one of five children of Dr. Adelbert Letts
Stagg & Dr. Ruth Elizabeth Stagg. His childhood years were spent largely in western Michigan where
his parents practiced medicine. He attended Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan where
he met his future wife, Judy Ann Shephard. They married in 1974 & moved out to Auburn, Washington
in 1977.
Andy was a trained guidance counselor with a love for numismatics. He opened his first store in the
spring of 1979 on Meeker Street in Kent, WA. 42 years & 4 store locations later he helped countless
people with collections & investments. Andy had a passion for Pirates & collecting Caribbean coinage.
He traveled all over the world attending major auctions to find coins for his collection.
Andy was very involved with the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Federal Way, WA. He cared
deeply for the church members & the community. He was loyal to the end in every aspect of life.
If he told you he was going to do something it was always done.
Andy is survived by his son Mark of Seattle, WA, his siblings Del (Carole) of Irvine, CA, Robert of
Mentone, CA, Kirk (Luanne) of Vancouver, WA, Sally of Aspen, CO & Jennifer (Greg) of Dansville, MI,
8 nephews & nieces that he loved very much Stephanie, Kristen, Jacob, Benjamin, Marshall, Taylor,
Victoria & Harrison. He will be buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn Washington where he will
have a graveside service on Saturday, July 31st, 2021. Andy's family would like to acknowledge & thank
the extraordinary care that he received by Dr. Kirby Lautman of Auburn Washington.
