Glen Allen Powell

Glen Allen Powell, age 88 of Punta Gorda, Florida, died Sunday, July 18, 2021. Born to Raymond and Orpha Powell from Union Lake Michigan on November 20, 1932, where he grew up, Glen excelled at athletics. After high school, Glen enlisted in the Army. He married his wife, Janet Race, on June 26, 1965 and they stayed together until her death in 2013. Glen worked at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan for about 30 years until his retirement. He then moved to Florida with his wife Janet and daughter Susan in 1987. He enjoyed playing golf for most of his life and enjoyed participating in the choir in his church. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Powell; mother, Orpha Powell; and sister, Betty Layton. He is survived by his children, Lori Foster (Jason), Glen Powell (Tom Feeney), and Susan Burke (Chris); grandchildren, Jessica Durrance (Johnny), Craig Gray, Kristine Burke, and Ashley Partridge (Michael); and great-grandchildren, Jace, Kenna, and Michael. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Sunday, July 25 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with graveside services to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes. A luncheon will be hosted at Greenville Floral following the graveside services.
