Jessie Joseph Dauzat Obituary

Funeral services for Jessie J. Dauzat, 78 of Brouillette Community will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Effie Bible Missionary Church, 2161 Effie Highway, Deville, LA. Burial will follow in Effie Bible Missionary Church Cemetery, Deville, Louisiana with Reverend Randy Paul and Eli Dominguez officiating and under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana. Visitation for Mr. Dauzat will be on Sunday, July 25, 2021, beginning at 5:00 PM until service time the following day at Effie Bible Missionary Church, Deville, Louisiana. Jessie J. Dauzat passed from death to eternal life on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Dauzat is preceded in death by his parents, Willie “Coon” and Verdie Dauzat; and his siblings, Percy Dauzat, Roy Dauzat, Clarence Dauzat, and Audrey Dauzat. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elma Fern Aycock Dauzat; his loving children, Barbara Dauzat Sampson (Jon), and Angelia “Angie” Dauzat Coon (Rev, Eric); his cherished grandchildren, Gloria Coon, Amber Sampson, and Emily Sampson; his brother, Steve Dauzat (Gayle); and his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers honored to serve are Danny Watts, Anthony Breithaupt, Quincy Bordelon, Pat Campbell, Danny Neal, and Kevin Hartley. Honorary Pallbearers are Ricky Dupuy, David Cook, James Bradshaw, Cody Kaufman, and James Durison. Jessie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Mr. Dauzat worked for Red River Atchafalaya Bayou Boeuf Levee District for 28 years. He retired and spent his following years owning and operating his lawn service. He also planted several large gardens, which made his big heart happy to give to family and friends. We often said he worked harder as a retiree than he did when he was working. He was a devoted follower of Jesus. His deep desire was that God would let him preach. He was a willing servant to the church and held many offices and always supported his pastors. He was often found with his guitar in hand ready to sing for the Lord. Mr. Jessie loved his family and countless friends. He made friends everywhere he went. His humility mixed with a healthy sense of humor made everyone love him, from Former Governor Edwin Edwards to his newest neighbor. He was a simple, yet an intriguing man. He loved to hunt and fish and captivated all ages if they ever heard him speaking in that Cajun accent. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. The family would like to say a big Thank You to the hospital and staff at North Oaks Health System in Hammond, Oak Haven Community Care in Center Point, the hospital, staff, and all the nurses, especially Mrs. AJ at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria that cared for him so well.
