Leonard Edwin Kilpatrick Obituary

The world has lost a hero. On July 18, 2021, MSgt. Leonard E. Kilpatrick (USAF Ret.) left this world to rejoin his beloved wife in the next one. He had been a longtime resident of Bossier City, LA, but was living in Pensacola, FL at the time of his passing. He will be buried at the Biloxi National Cemetery. Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, only immediate family will attend the service. Born in Bartlesville, OK, in 1928, Leonard grew up there and in East Texas but left at a young age to explore the world in the US military. He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War as a Combat Air Medic. He was a Bronze Star recipient who was credited in helping save more than 40,000 military members. But his heart was with his wife, Anne. Together they explored the world and enjoyed the life they made together. They lived together until her passing in 2009. Surviving him are his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Dale Stokes of Pensacola, FL, as well as his adored grandson, Kevin Stokes, also of Pensacola; sister-in-law, Sharon Ozment, whom he greatly cherished; three special cousins, Eleanor Carr of Amarillo, TX, Bobby Kilpatrick of Chesapeake, VA, and Lisa Medina of Long Beach, CA. He also left many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he dearly loved. Dear to his heart were his companions of more than ten years, his cats: Lightning, Thomas, Greenberry, and Leroy. They enhanced his life each and every day they spent together. Predeceasing him are his wife Anne Kilpatrick, parents Nellie Ling and Ira Kilpatrick, and his siblings Joseph Kilpatrick and Ada McKee. Throughout his later years, both in Louisiana and Florida, Leonard received compassionate care from multiple medical professionals. His family would like to thank those who treated him with compassion and love. You are all blessings to us. If you would like to honor Leonard's life or service, please consider a donation to the Port City Cat Rescue, 1826 Benton Road, Bossier City, Louisiana 71111. The family asks for no flowers please. "Death is not the end. Your soul continues." He will be mourned and cherished, but never forgotten. Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, is entrusted with arrangements. You may express condolences online at www.fcfhs.com.
