Arnold L. Hinderman

Arnold Leonard Hinderman was called home on July 17th, 2021 at Abbott Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born on May 16th, 1938 in New Ulm, MN to Leonard and Delta (Battig) Hinderman. He grew up in Home Township, Sleepy Eye, MN. He started his education at the District 19 country school, then attended St. John's Lutheran School, Sleepy Eye and graduated in 1958 from Sleepy Eye Public High School. He then joined the United States Army in January 1959 serving until December 1960. Upon returning from the Army in January he worked for the Essig Creamery and various farmers. On October 7th 1961 he was united in marriage to Arlene Dittbenner. They then resided in Praireville Township where they started farming together in 1962. While farming he also worked full time at Sleepy Eye Creamery. Throughout the remainder of his working years he was employed at Del Monte, Mathiowetz Construction, Carlson Brothers, MR Construction and worked for Dale Kral. In retirement Arnie was active in many organizations. He served in the Honor Guard and American Legion, Sleepy Eye Lions and Sleepy Eye Concertina Club. He also helped deliver meals on wheels. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Arnie enjoyed playing concertina for others and could be heard playing at the area nursing homes. He also enjoyed playing at the "music jams" during their 15 years wintering in southern Texas. He very much enjoyed meeting and visiting with people, making connections and learning about their lives. Arnie is survived by his wife, Arlene of 59 years, daughter, Heidi (Gary) Kuelbs of Sleepy Eye, sons, Shane (SuAnn) Hinderman of Sleepy Eye, Scott (Sharon) Hinderman of Fort Wayne, Indiana, along with 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. Also survived by brothers, LeRoy and Kenneth Hinderman, sisters-in-law, Alice and Pat Hinderman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Delbert, brother-in-law, Richard Klabunde and sisters-in-law, Carol Hinderman and Pat Hinderman. The family of Arnold Hinderman wishes to thank you for all your expressions of kindness and sympathy during our time of loss, it was deeply appreciated.
