Edna Maestas was born on September 27, 1936, and passed from this life on July 17, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edward; sons Jeffery E. (wife Kathy) and Gary E. (wife Ruby) Maestas; grandchildren Jonathan Maestas (wife Reesa), Kerri Fortney (husband Joey), Lauren Baratto (husband Keith), Heather Cummins (husband Jon), Gary A. Maestas, Andrew Maestas, Martin Aguilar; great-grandchildren Jacob Fortney, Liam Cummins and Eleanor Baratto (expected October 2021); brothers Frank (wife Angela) and Ernesto Ortiz and Sister Carrie Mae Martinez (husband Chris) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Edward M. Maestas; parents Julian and Florida Ortiz; brothers Mike, Joe, Paul, Julian Ortiz, and Sister Lucille Montoya. Edna was many things, but mostly she was beloved by her family. She was a wife, sister, and friend, especially a mother, a grandmother, and a great grandmother. Edna a businesswoman for over 50 years, she served the Espanola and White Rock communities by owning and operating a beauty salon. The family would like to thank Ambercare Hospice for the high level of care and dignity they showed during Edna’s final days. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021 at 6:00 pm at the DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
