Virginia Kay Jeffers Obituary

Virginia Kay Jeffers passed away on July 12, 2021. She was predeceased by her parent, Lulabelle Rose Friebert and George Goode, both of Portsmouth, VA. She was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, Virginia where she raised 16 children, Raymond Jeffers Jr and his wife Carol of Webster, NH, Andrew Jeffers of Sarasota, FL, Richard Jeffers of Portsmouth, VA, Scott Jeffers of Portsmouth, VA, Kenny Jeffers, deceased, Lisa Jeffers of Portsmouth, VA, Louis Jeffers of Portsmouth, VA, Christopher Jeffers, deceased, Jeffrey Jeffers of Farmville, VA, Misty Marron-Lotz and her husband Pierson of Norfolk, VA, Valerie Kay Marron of Virginia Beach, VA, Richard Marron II of Portsmouth, VA, Travis Marron of Portsmouth, VA, Tracy Marron of Virginia Beach, VA, Betsy Ulyak and her husband John of Sheridan Wyoming, and Edwina Marron of Portsmouth, VA. Virginia also is survived by 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. (Before you go rattling your brain, trying to count everyone, we included step children and step grandchildren too! ) Virginia loved to watch her favorite soap operas as well as New England Patriot and San Francisco 49ers football, all while she enjoyed a good cup of coffee. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed when they came to visit. She found it a real treat when she got Chinese food or went out to eat with loved ones. Virginia also loved a beautiful sunny day just sitting on her porch or on the garden swing in the back yard. She also loved listening to classic rock as well as many other genres of music. As we now know, losing our mother is never an easy time in our lives. We sometimes find ourselves picking up the telephone to call them or even forgetting all together that they have passed away until we play a certain song or cook a certain food that reminds us of them and we get emotional. Well, over a period of time in her life, she kept birds in cages, preferably finches. Oh, how she loved those birds! The last little finch is now at Valerie’s house and is noticeably emotional and missing her “mama” too. We’re all going to miss our mom; and just because she may not physically be here on earth, she will forever be in our hearts! Rest in sweetest peace, Mom. Until we meet again! There will be a public memorial service on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Pinecrest Baptist Church at 209 Felton Road in Portsmouth, VA from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. People attending are asked to arrive by 10:00 am and to wear a mask. A gathering for immediate family members only will be held afterwards and a private interment of her cremains will be done at a later date.
