JANIER “STAR” MCKINNIES, a loving mother, daughter, and sister entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank.  She was 38 years old and was employed as a counselor at Behavioral Health Group of New Orleans.  Star was a graduate of Bonnabel High School and Southern University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice and a Masters of Arts degree in criminal justice.  She was later awarded a scholarship to attend Tulane University where she earned a Masters of Arts degree in Social Work.  She then earned her qualifications as a licensed social worker.

Beloved daughter of Ruth M. McKinnies and Joseph R. McKinnies Sr.  Devoted mother of her beautiful daughter Miracle Sani McKinnies.  Sister of Angel Arielle Brown and the late Joseph R. McKinnies Jr.  God sister of Yvotta S. Brown.  Niece of Pastor Johnny M. McKinnies, Philip Brown, Rory Brown, Delores Brown, Bettie Eugene (Thomas), Genevieve Davidson (Robert), and Catherine Bernard.  Star is also survived by host of loving cousins, co-workers, patients, and devoted friends.  She was predeceased by her grandparents Martha and Brady McKinnies.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Israel Baptist Church located at 1612 Esther St. Harvey LA. 70058.  The visitation will begin at 8A.M. followed by a 10A.M. service.  Pastor Johnny M. McKinnies will officiate and interment will be private.

Due to COVID-19, everyone in attendance MUST wear a facemask or other proper facial covering.
