Gary Cherrington

April 17, 1944 – July 8, 2021

It is with hearts filled with love and warm memories that the family of Gary Cherrington announce his passing in Drayton Valley, Alberta on July 8, 2021 at the age of 77 years.

Gary had a great love for all things outdoors, and especially enjoyed his many hunting and fishing adventures. He also enjoyed his gardening and bird-watching, but his greatest love was his family – especially his great grandchildren.

Gary will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Thelma Cherrington; his two children, Darcy Cherrington (Cylinda) and Rita Winfield (John); grandchildren Trevor Winfield (Sammi), Conrad Cherrington (Jaime) and Lindsay Cherrington; great grandchildren, Elaine Winfield, Glenna Winfield and Hudson Cherrington. Gary is also survived by his brother Keith (Karen) and his brother-in-law Chester Town and sister-in-law Debbie Town, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary was predeceased by his parents Fred and Vi Cherrington; sisters Vera, Fay and Laura and brother Les.

In keeping with Gary’s wishes, there will be no formal service, but celebrate his life through the sharing of your stories and memories.

Gary’s family would like to thank the Doctors and staff who assisted with Gary’s care at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre. It is in this spirit of gratitude that the family ask that in lieu of flowers, to please make donations to the Drayton Valley Cancer Clinic, care of the Drayton Valley Health Foundation, 4550 Madsen Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta T7A 1N8.
