William M. "Bill" Martin

William M. “Bill” Martin, age 92, of Oak Ridge, passed away July 8, 2021 surrounded by family. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Army. Bill got a BS from the University of Kentucky. He worked as a civil engineer until he retired from TVA after 20 years of service. He married Donna in 1955 and they went on to enjoy 55 happy years together before her passing. Bill was a loving husband, father, “Papa”, and “Grandpa” and will be greatly missed by all who knew him as such. Bill’s great generosity was a trait that stood out to his family, friends, and acquaintances. He was referred to by many, family and otherwise, as their “beloved Uncle Bill”. Bill was also known as a lifelong devoted Kentucky Wildcats fan for all sports but especially when it came to football and basketball. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna; parents, Harry &amp; Lelia Martin; one sister; and three brothers. Survivors include daughters, Helena Flores and husband Carlito, and Lisa McCollum and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Kristen Walker and husband Hunter, Karen Zirkle, Daniel Smith and wife Callie, Hannah Hester and husband Lance, and Peyton Townsend and husband Jacob; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and his “baby brother”, Donald Martin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at <a href="(855)448-3997">(855)448-3997</a> or <a href="https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org">https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org</a>  or to the charity of your choice. The family will receive friends 12-1:30 pm Monday, July 12, 2021 at Weatherford Mortuary. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 pm with nephew, Don Quinley officiating.
