Charles E. (Gene) Smith

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Mr. Charles E. (Gene) Smith, age 75, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, IN.&nbsp; Gene was born August 26, 1945, the son of C.E. and Anna Ruth (Mills) Smith.&nbsp; He proudly enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Vietnam Era.&nbsp; Gene was co-owner, with his brother, of C.E. Smith and Sons, a general construction company established by their father.&nbsp; In recent years, he became a collector of classic cars, especially loving Fords and Mustangs.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Gene is survived by his loving wife, Betty (Morgan) Smith; two children, Steve Smith and his wife, Cindy, and Rebecca Embry and her husband, Jon; four grandchildren, Anthony Smith and his wife, Alexandra, Caroline Smith, Michael Embry and Elizabeth Embry; two brothers, Roger Smith and his wife, Alice and Rick Smith and his wife, Debbie; and his sister, Judy Hicks.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 12, 2021, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, with Revs. George Illakkal and Greg Trawick officiating.&nbsp; Burial, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home in Brandenburg, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, and from 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM on Monday.&nbsp; A prayer service will be held at 5:00 PM on Sunday led by Deacon Greg Beavin.&nbsp; Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Theresa Parish Life Center.&nbsp;</p>

     Mr. Charles E.
