James F. Otter, Jr.

<p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:16px;">Jim was born in Fishtown to the late James F. Sr.&nbsp;and Mary Coyle Otter.&nbsp; He passed away at Jefferson Torresdale&nbsp;after a valiant battle&nbsp;with renal&nbsp;disease.&nbsp; Jim was raised in Fishtown attending Holy Name of Jesus Parish School and after graduation he went to North Catholic Class of &#39;59.&nbsp; After high school, Jim entered the US Air Force in December of 1961 serving four years and attaining the rank of Airman First Class. He saw overseas duty in Turkey.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:16px;">Upon his return from military duty,&nbsp;he joined the Philadelphia Police Department,&nbsp; spending most of his career in the 25th District. Previous to retiring he was assigned to the &quot;Roundhouse&quot;.&nbsp; He spent near 25 years on the force.&nbsp; Jim was a family man, preferring to spend his leisure with his family.&nbsp; &nbsp;Jim was most always seen with his favorite breed of dog, a boxer.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:16px;">Jim is survived by his children, James T., Teresa Jo, Michael, Patrick and Stephen.&nbsp; Brother of&nbsp;Francis Otter and sadly missed by a special cousin Roseanne Ritchie.&nbsp; Along with his grandchildren James , Andrew, Lindsay Michelle, Jason and great grandson Isaac, he will be sadly missed by&nbsp;nieces, nephews and cousins.&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:16px;">Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing and funeral on Monday, July 12, 2021, beginning at 9:45 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Fishtown.&nbsp; His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM.&nbsp; Interment will military honors will follow at New Cathedral Cemetery.&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:verdana,geneva,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:16px;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></span></p>

Obituary

Jim was born in Fishtown to the late James F. Sr. and Mary Coyle Otter.  He passed away at Jefferson Torresdale after a valiant battle with renal disease.  Jim was raised in Fishtown attending Holy Name of Jesus Parish School and after graduation he went to North Catholic Class of '59.  After high school, Jim entered the US Air Force in December of 1961 serving four years and attaining the rank of Airman First Class. He saw overseas duty in Turkey.    

Upon his return from military duty, he joined the Philadelphia Police Department,  spending most of his career in the 25th District. Previous to retiring he was assigned to the "Roundhouse".  He spent near 25 years on the force.  Jim was a family man, preferring to spend his leisure with his family.   Jim was most always seen with his favorite breed of dog, a boxer.

Jim is survived by his children, James T., Teresa Jo, Michael, Patrick and Stephen.  Brother of Francis Otter and sadly missed by a special cousin Roseanne Ritchie.  Along with his grandchildren James , Andrew, Lindsay Michelle, Jason and great grandson Isaac, he will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews and cousins.
