Peter Thomas Sugas
<p>Peter Thomas Sugas passed away July 8, 2021 at his home. Peter was born August 10, 1929 to Christos and Helen (Pappas) Sugas in Kalamazoo.<br /> <br /> Much of his younger years were spent helping his parents in their shoe repair shop in Kalamazoo. He also spent time in Germany while in the Army during the 1950s. he took over the shoe repair business coming back home. In 1958, he joined the Kalamazoo Fire Department, where he spent the next 28 years until retirement in 1986. During those years, he worked several part-time jobs.<br /> <br /> Peter was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Bill Pittatsis; and two brothers, Thomas and Paul.<br /> <br /> Surviving are his wife, Virginia (Somers) Sugas; four children, John, Karen (John) Manning, Patricia (Edwin) Lopez, and Michael (Jeanie); sister-in-law, Betty Sugas; as well as several nieces and nephews.<br /> <br /> A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 13 at 11:00am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E Centre Avenue, Portage, MI 49002.<br /> <br /> In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association.<br /> <br /> Please visit Pete's personalized online guestbook at <a href="https://www.langelands.com" target="_blank">https://www.langelands.com</a></p>Obituary
