Roger Kenneth Hoback, age 58 of Nebraska City died July 4, 2021 at Bryan LGH West Medical Center in Lincoln. Roger was the youngest of four children and was born August 24, 1962 in Nebraska City, the son of Kenneth and Betty (Everett) Hoback. This was also Kenny’s birthday. Roger grew up in Union and attended Taylor School in Union. He was a 1980 graduate of Nebraska City High School. He then farmed, owned the "Back Forty" Bar in Union, and served as the Mayor of Union. He later worked at American Meter/Elster/Honeywell as safety coordinator for 32 for years. He most recently worked at Monolith Materials as safety coordinator in Hallam. Roger loved hanging out with friends, going on trips, camping and playing cards with family. He loved watching his sons as they played sports as youths and throughout high school. Roger is survived by his wife of 24 years, Karen Jones Hoback; sons Brady Hoback of Mesa, AZ and Colby Hoback of Nebraska City; brother Richard "Dick" Hoback and his wife Joni Craighead-Hoback of Omaha; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Nick Schmitz of Nebraska City; David Tucker of Chattanooga, TN; Michael Jones and his wife Kari of Fond du Lac, WI; Jean Bashus and her husband Tim of Pacific Junction, IA; Mitzi Hoback of Omaha; mother-in-law Nancy Jones of Nebraska City; several nieces and nephews; 9 great nieces and nephews, and many loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Linda Tucker and Dianne Schmitz.
