Elizabeth Jane "Libby" Rountree

Elizabeth Jane “Libby” Rountree, age 17, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021, in Dublin, Georgia. Libby was born on March 25, 2004, in Marietta. She was a rising senior at Lassiter High School and a defender for the varsity soccer team. Libby was a straight A student with a sharp intellect and gentle spirit. She was a great musician and singer who played several instruments, including the piano, saxophone and guitar. She was part of a tight-knit group of friends who loved her well. She and her dad and sister hiked the entire Georgia Appalachian Trail together, and her trail name was Little Moses. Libby will be remembered as a beloved daughter to Chris (RIP) and Erica and beloved sister to Cate. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Hurley Ray Rountree, Jr. (grandmother Clarice Nason Rountree) and great grandmother Jane Crouch (Charlene Shepard’s mother known to her as GG). Libby is survived by her mother, Erica Shepard Rountree of Marietta, sister Julia “Cate” Rountree, grandparents Daniel and Charlene Shepard (FL), grandmother Helen Kniley (FL), aunt Cathleen “Cathy” Rountree Elliott (uncle William Kent “Bill” of FL), and uncles Will Nason Cochrane (Grace of NC), Wallace Stanley Cochrane (FL), Frank Cochrane (Wanda of FL), William “Billy” Cochrane (Tracey of WV) and a big extended family who loved her. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, Marietta, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Libby Rountree Memorial Scholarship Fund. You may donate either online below, or by sending a check payable to Trojan Soccer Booster Club to 2601 Shallowford Rd, Marietta, GA 30066 with Libby Rountree Scholarship in the memo line.
