Janice E. Dester, 83, of Ruskin, Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 1st, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was born in the Bronx, lived in Keansburg, prior to moving to Florida in 1997. Janice was a retired secretary for the Keansburg Board of Education, past Captain and life member of Keansburg First Aid. Janice was a member of the Keansburg American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #273, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Florida and a member of the Moose Lodge #813 in Florida. Janice loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed volunteering her time. She is survived by her loving husband of over sixty years; John Dester Jr. of Florida, three sons and daughters in-law; John and Joann Dester III of Virginia, Robert and Kim Dester of Florida and Christopher and Tammi Dester of Florida. Two daughters and sons in-law; Deborah and Junior Sorey of Virginia and Catherine and Gerry Conte of Keansburg. Her brother; Robert Duga of Matawan. 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Many nieces, nephews and extended family. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday from 2-6pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. Cremation will be private.
