Thomas “Tom” Carl Johanning, 63, of Park Rapids, MN, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at his home with his family at his side after battling pancreatic cancer. Tom was born March 7, 1958 in Park Rapids to David and Priscilla (Sheldon) Johanning. He grew up on the Hubbard Prairie. He graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1976. His first job was at Earl Holmes’ Champlin Station in Park Rapids. He was owner-operator of Johanning Trucking until he retired in May of 2020. On June 26, 1982 he was united in marriage to Sandra Feil at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids. They raised their children, Megan and Jared, on the Hubbard Prairie. Tom loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, RC Model Air Planes and cruising trails and roads in the area. He showed an artistic talent, creating fish decoys, furniture, and wooden signs. His loved ones appreciated his easy-going nature, ready smile, and joy in sharing his passion for the outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandy; his children, Megan (Nate) Warmbold, Jared (Lindsey) Johanning; mother, Priscilla Johanning; siblings, Timothy (Jeri) Johanning, Susan (Dave) Rugroden; grandchildren, Jade, Thomas, Amara and Milly Warmbold and Addison and Charlie Johanning; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his father, Dave Johanning. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 11:00 am at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids with visitation for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial at Hubbard Cemetery after the service followed by a luncheon at the Johanning home, 21813 110th Street, Park Rapids. Arrangements by Cease Family Funeral Home of Park Rapids, MN.
