Eleanor R. Hennessey Obituary

Eleanor R. Hennessey, 99, of Manchester, passed from this life peacefully on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Eleanor was born to the late John and Katherine Gehringer on November 15, 1921 in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother as well as a trusted friend. Her children remember her as having a strong Catholic Faith in which she never waivered, and always relied on. She prayed every day and often said, “God's will be done”. When asked on her 99th birthday her secret to longevity, she said, “Everything in moderation and don't worry.” Her children will always remember the delicious meals she cooked, the desserts she baked, and how she made the holidays so special. She was an avid reader and was the valedictorian of her class of 1939. She enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City but her greatest joy in life was her family. She will be greatly missed by her children, her grandchildren, and all who knew her.

Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, John Gehringer and Katherine Husken Gehringer; husband, Radcliffe O. Hennessey; son, Stephen J. Hennessey; and son in law, Robert E. Catron.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Radcliffe W. Hennessey and his wife Gail of Harpursville, New York; daughters, Kathleen A. Catron of Manchester; Nancy E. Klock and her husband Gary of Cuba, New York; Melanie E. Simpson and her husband Joseph of Bradenton, Florida; Maureen S. Tillander and her husband Steven of Beachwood; grandchildren, Marc J. Simpson of Sarasota, Florida; Jacob W. Klock and his fiance, Lindsey Perry of Wellsville, New York and Joshua S. Tillander of Beachwood.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:15am, Wednesday July 7, 2021 at St. Luke RC Church, 1674 Old Freehold Rd, Toms River, NJ 08755 with entombment to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
