Lee Rex McCarty Obituary

Lee Rex McCarty, 77, of Star, ID passed away at home on June 29, 2021. Lee was born July 7, 1943, in Flint, MI. He grew up on a dairy farm in Otisville, MI. He is the son of Dan and Carol (Chandler) McCarty and brother of Jud D. McCarty, in which all have passed. He is survived by his nephew Jud, Jim, and niece Lynnanne. He also has numerous cousins in western Michigan. Lee graduated from Michigan State University. He then spent most of his life in California and Nevada. He finally settled down in Star, Idaho. He was a social worker at a VA hospital in Boise. Lee was a man of great talents and interests. He loved nature and many things associated with self-sufficiency. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and exceptional gardener. Usually, two times a year he would take trips to Alaska for salmon and halibut fishing. He also loved repairing and building computer systems. He was very amusing and always had a great story to tell in any situation. Based on his numerous adventures, he always had a story on hand. His interests in making things himself and living from the abundance of the land seemed to be his way of life. Lee will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
