Rev. Cynthia Lee, age 74, of Meridian, passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2021.

Funeral services will be 11 A.M., Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Cranfills Gap United Methodist Church. Rev. Kevin Anderson, Rev. Brian Brice and Rev. Sheridan Priddy will officiate. Burial will be in the Rock Church Cemetery near Cranfills Gap. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M., Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Pallbearers will be David Clemons, Weldon Hamilton, Jamie Hutchinson, Joe Hutchinson, Brandon Lee and Mark Day. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gavin and Garrett Lee.

Cynthia was born on August 15, 1946 to Francis and Alma Hodnefield in Eldora, Iowa. She graduated from Northern Iowa University and taught elementary school in Galesburg Illinois, where she met Myron Lee. The couple were married May 23, 1070 at the Lutheran church in Radcliffe, Iowa. Cynthia began her ministerial career in 1983 at a small church near Galesburg. The family, now with two sons, moved to Cleburne, Texas in 1985. Cynthia graduated from (Methodist) Brite Divinity School at TCU with her Masters of Divinity, in 1989 and was a  associate pastor in Cleburne and later in Ft. Worth. She transferred to her first appointment was Abbott in 1991. She served in numerous area churches before arriving in Meridian. She retired to the ranch in 2011 and they began raising sheep.

Cynthia was an avid seamstress and has made many “pretzel pillows” and lap throws which she donated to nursing homes in the area.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother (“Nana”), always putting family and others before herself. She was active in the Meridian Lions Club and the Norwegian Society in Bosque County.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Alma Hodnefield, brother, Ragene Hodnefield, and son, Eirik Lee. She is survived by husband, Myron, Son, Brandon Lee (Paula), grandsons Gavin and Garrett. Sister, Kathryn Henderson, and numerous other relatives and beloved friends.
