Dorothy May Clark Obituary

Dorothy May Godfrey Clark went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2021. She was born March 29, 1934 to Alma Lee Parsley Godfrey and Everett Coleman Godfrey just outside of Sulphur Springs, Texas where they lived until 1946. She was the fifth of six children, the youngest daughter. Dorothy moved with her mother and younger brother Ronnie to Phoenix in 1947 where she attended Phoenix Union High School and worked for Southwestern Bell. There she met the love of her life, Chester Herschel Clark, who was stationed at Luke Air Force Base. They were married within weeks in October 1955 and welcomed their first child, Russell Eugene in August of 1956.

The Clarks moved to Billings, Montana in 1957 where Chet worked as a restaurant equipment salesman and he and Dottie began raising their growing family. Daughters Rebecca Lee followed in 1959 and Roxan Dean in 1966. The family moved to Boise in 1970 and Twin Falls in 1975. Chet then worked for Behlen Manufacturing and Dottie worked for Transamerica Corporation.

The bedrock of their marriage and family was their relationship with Christ. Their home was always the hub of hospitality whether with neighborhood kids or church families. Dottie was the “kool-aid mom”, her door was always open to everyone. Mom was beautiful, both inside and out with a gentle loving spirit. She had an infectious laugh, rapier wit, lightning-quick mind, limitless compassion, huge tender heart, patience beyond words, steadfast faith in Christ, and an “I can do anything” attitude. She was a voracious reader, inquisitive about everything, daily reading the newspaper and completing that day’s crossword puzzle. She loved music and learning and fostered that love in her children. She was ever ready for an adventure with friends and family from boating, swimming, picnics and trips enjoying the great beauty of the Northwest as long as she had a nice hotel bed to sleep in.

Dottie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Chet in 2004, her mother and father, her brothers, James Oliver, William Eugene, and Ronnie Lynn, her sister Alice Maude and her granddaughter, Hannah Elysia Lock. She is survived by her children: son Russ Clark, wife Karen, grandchildren Kathleen and Ethan; daughter Rebecca Lock; daughter Roxan Ottman, husband Mark, children Emmie and Lillie and great-grandson Bentley Cooper; sister Lois Godfrey Stone and family; sister-in-law Nancy Godfrey, nephew Geoffrey and family, and other extended family.

A Celebration of Life Service for Dorothy Clark will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Amazing Grace Fellowship, 1061 Eastland Dr N, Twin Falls, Idaho. No reception following.
