Malcolm "Pete" Edward Peters Obituary

Malcolm “Pete” Edward Peters, 78, died Monday morning June 29, 2021 at Brigham Manor in Newburyport and was finally reunited with his wife he missed dearly and I am sure she greeted him with open arms. He was born in Hammond, Indiana at St. Margaret's Hospital on July 10, 1942 to the late Wallace and Alida (Allis) Peters.

Malcolm may have started life in Indiana but his adventures led him to New York and Massachusetts with his first wife Karen , daughter Phyllis and son Greg. His children have fond memories of going fishing, road trips , horror movies and practical jokes galore. They both inherited his impeccable comedic timing and memories that were filled with love and laughter.  His first marriage ended and he travelled to California, Kansas and eventually settled back to Massachusetts.

It was when he re-settled in Newburyport years later and he worked at Richdale selling his infamous t-shirts dressed as an elf did he find love again when Marion Hawkes walked by and it was love at first sight. They married in 2002 and their love of the slots led them on many adventures throughout New England. Sadly he lost Marion in 2011 to cancer and has missed her everyday since, until today.

He is survived by his daughter Phyllis Fleming and her husband Tom of Punta Gorda, FL; his son Gregory Peters and his wife Mary of Chester, NH; his step sons Paul Pelletier and his wife  Kelly of  Amesbury, MA and Joe Pelletier and his wife Maura of Salisbury, MA ;his sister Bobbi (Peters)Costa of Cedar Lake, IN; his brother Wally Peters and his wife Judy of Munster, IN as well as his 7 grandchildren who called him many names ,Grandpa M and M, Papa Pete and Grandpa Milky that will carry on his legacy. He was predeceased by his wife Marion (Hawkes) Peters and his brother-in-law Louis Costa.

Family and friends are invited to Pete’s Graveside Service with at 12:30 PM on Friday July 2, 2021 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Newburyport. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Peters' family with his funeral arrangements.
