Funeral services for Tommy Gene Rasberry Sr., age 71, of Shongaloo, LA, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Haynesville First Assembly of God, Haynesville, LA with Bro. Rodney Gray and Bro. Henry Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Western Cemetery, Emerson, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA. Visitation will be held Friday, June 25, 2021, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Haynesville First Assembly of God, Haynesville, LA . Mr. Rasberry was born on October 25, 1949 to Aubyrn and Mary Burns Shively in Haynesville, LA. and passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021 in Shongaloo, LA. He dedicated his life after retirement from the oil field to serving on the Shongaloo Volunteer Fire Department. He spent those years as Captain and later became Chief. When he wasn't at the fire house, you could find him hunting, fishing, or tending to his garden. He was a beloved husband, father, papaw, and friend. He was always willing to give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He loved his family and would do anything for them, from coaching ball teams to grilling out for family get togethers. To know him was to love him and many would say, "he was the best person they had ever known". He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Barbara Rasberry of Shongaloo, LA; brother, Larry Rasberry and wife Debbie of Shongaloo, LA; sister, Angelia Rowe and husband Ricky of Emerson, AR; four daughters, Christie Lee and husband Jason of Blanchard, LA, Amanda Lewis and husband Justin of Shongaloo, LA, Shelley Fore and husband Al of Taylor, AR, Kimberly Hicks and husband Troy of Homer, LA; two sons, Waylon Rasberry and wife Meredith of Blanchard, LA, John Hicks and wife Donna of Shongaloo, LA; granddaughter, Tiffany Gilbert and husband Kaleb of Springhill, LA; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Kami Sherrill, and Leighton Gilbert both of Springhill, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Rasberry, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Billy Rasberry, Sr., Jerry Rasberry, and, Joe Rasberry, son, Tommy Rasberry, Jr., and great-grandson, Landon "Lil Duck" Gilbert.
